What Actually Happens in a Human Design Reading? (And Should You Get One?)

You’ve probably heard someone talk about “Human Design” lately - maybe on a podcast, in your Instagram feed, or from that one friend who’s always doing something cosmic. They mention things like Energy Type or Authority, and you’re like… what now?

If you’ve googled it, chances are you’ve ended up staring at a weird-looking chart with shapes and numbers and lines and thought, “Yeah… not today.”

Totally fair.
Human Design can look overwhelming at first.
But the truth is - it’s not about memorising parts of your chart. It’s about understanding yourself in a way that finally feels like you make sense.

That’s where a reading comes in.

Okay, but what is Human Design?

Let’s keep it simple:
Human Design is a system that shows you how your energy is designed to work. It’s like an energetic blueprint based on your birth data - the day, time, and place you were born.

It blends a bunch of systems together (astrology, chakras, I Ching, Kabbalah… even quantum physics), but you don’t need to study any of that to get something out of it.
In fact, if your brain glazed over just reading that list - you’re my people.

A Human Design reading helps you take that mysterious chart and turn it into something practical, something that helps you make better decisions, understand your energy, and stop forcing yourself to operate in ways that don’t actually work for you.

So what happens in a reading?

It depends on who you’re working with, but if you’re doing one with me, here’s the gist:

We jump on a Zoom call together, I share my screen so that we can look at your chart in all its glory and then, I start explaining what it all means, step by step, layer by layer in simple to understand terms. I use practical examples, analogies and metaphors, as well as hold space for you to ask questions.

We look at:

  • Your Energy Type - how your energy is meant to move through the world (are you here to guide, initiate, respond, reflect?)

  • Your Strategy & Authority - how you’re designed to make aligned decisions (and why mental pros/cons lists probably aren’t it)

  • Your Profile - your natural life themes and learning style

  • Your Channels - your superpowers and a specific theme or lesson that shows up in your life consistently.

  • Plus anything else that feels relevant - defined centres, energy patterns, conditioning themes, etc.

But it’s not just an info dump.
We make it make sense for your actual life - the way you work, rest, relate, and show up in the world.

You’ll walk away with a better understanding of how you’re wired and how to start living more in alignment with that. Less overthinking. Less burnout. More clarity.

But is a Human Design reading really worth it?

If you’ve ever:

  • Wondered why certain strategies just don’t work for you

  • Felt stuck or disconnected from your decision-making

  • Tried every productivity hack only to burn out again

  • Wanted permission to just be who you are without guilt

Then yes.

A reading might be exactly what you need.

It’s not going to fix your entire life overnight - but it will offer clarity. Language. Validation. Recognition and a way forward. And if nothing else, it’s a really affirming experience to have someone reflect back the things you’ve always known deep down.

Here’s what one client told me:

“I’ve spent years trying to ‘push through’ like everyone else. My reading gave me permission to stop - and start listening to myself.”

Want to explore your own chart?

There’s no one “right” way to start. Here are a few options depending on what you need:

No pressure. Just invitations.

Final thoughts

You don’t need to be fixed.
You don’t need to be more like [insert guru or girlboss here].
You just need to understand yourself in a way that feels grounded, honest, and supportive.

That’s what Human Design is for. And a reading? It’s just the first step in coming back to yourself - without the shoulds, the guilt, or the burnout.

If that sounds like your vibe, I’d love to meet you and explore your chart together.
